FAQ About Therapy

It takes courage to come into therapy and there is no definitive time frame; it varies with each individual. Sometimes change can be as simple as a shift in our perspective, while at other times we may have to excavate and deconstruct our past in order to make sense of it.  Often we have to reconstruct our experiences in a way that better serves us.  What I can say is that I have seen the beauty of the human spirit and its resiliency, and I believe we all inherently possess the power to triumph.  I will provide you with a comfortable and safe environment where you can explore your feelings, challenge your fears, and work toward a fulfilling, healthy, and truthful life.

Free Phone Consultation
Starting therapy can be a scary process for some people.  The first step is to call me for a free phone consultation.  We will talk about why you are seeking therapy.  I will also discuss my fees with you and answer any questions you may have about therapy.

Fees
Sessions are $235.00 per 50 minute hour.  Couples fee is $275.00. I accept cash, checks, Major Credit Cards, and Zelle. Sessions are typically weekly, but can vary according to your wants and needs. We will discuss this together and develop a plan with your therapeutic goals in mind.

Insurance

I do not accept insurance. I am considered an  “Out of Network” provider.  If  you have out of network benefits and have met your deductible you insurance company may cover a portion of the fee.  Please check with me and I may be able to help you understand your benefits. Once per month or as requested, I will provide you with a HCFA / Super Bill form to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.  Most companies pay between 40% to 75% for out of network providers.

Questions you need to ask your insurance company:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  • What is my coverage; number of sessions allowed and what percentage do they pay for a provider outside of the network?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • Do I need to get any pre-authorization before my first appointment to see an out-of-network provider?
  • Do my benefits cover a California licensed marriage and family therapist?

Scheduling
Our appointments will be 50 minutes long.  Most of my clients see me one time a week, but that can be altered depending on your needs. I am available for morning, daytime, and evening appointments.  I offer phone and internet session appointments for clients who travel often or are unable to to attend regular office meetings, however this is only available after the initial intake has been done in-person.

Confidentiality
All sessions and paperwork will be confidential with the exception of when you are at risk of harming yourself or another, and in circumstances of child or elder abuse.  Also, please be mindful that when using your insurance, they have the right to be privy to certain information regarding your treatment.

Parking
